Our Music
The Dublin Community Church has an active, enthusiastic and musical mixed choir that sings at Sunday services, plus an occasional wedding or memorial service. There are eight to sixteen singers on any typical Sunday. Our repertoire consists of sacred and non-sacred compositions from all style periods, appropriate works from the popular genre, and compositions by our music director, Tom Martin.
The Sunday before Christmas is devoted to a full-length program of anthems and carols to accompany readings from the Bethlehem story.
Jazz Sunday, the last Sunday before Lent, features a jazz trio, and spirituals by the choir.
Easter Sunday we prepare a sacred piece from the standard choral literature often from an oratorio or cantata.
Choir rehearses Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00pm, and 9:00 to 10:00am on Sunday, before services. We welcome all who wish to sing in a mixed choral ensemble. Ability to read music is helpful but not required. Laughter and enjoyment are required.
Choir has recently (November 2022) reactivated after a Covid-19 hiatus since March of 2020. While the choir takes a hiatus during the Summer, services feature instrumental and vocal guest artists.
